A salvage yard blaze took an East Point firefighting crew roughly two ours to put out Sunday evening, authorities said.

Around 5:32 p.m., on Sunday, four trucks respoonded to Newell Industries at 1359 Central Ave., in East Point, fire officials said.

Firefighters arrived to find fire coming from a stack of crushed vehicles, fire spokeswoman Renita Shelton said.

No injuries were reported, and the fire was under control by 7:27 p.m., Shelton said.

A cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

Representatives from the Environmental Protection Agency surveyed the salvage yard after the fire was extinguished and determined that there were no environmental protection concerns.
