Because of a new natural gas pipeline through East Point, the city’s Fire Department will get new equipment and training focused on confined space and trench/excavation rescue.

The Georgia Public Service Commission gave the city a $128,000 grant to cover the cost of the new gear and specialized rescue classes. City Council approved spending the money earlier this week 12/21, meaning the tools will arrive shortly. Training is slated to begin early next year.
