East Point’s Clean City Initiative team is making progress clearing neighborhoods of unsafe vacant properties. The team recently razed two homes in the city, one at 2633 Jewel Street, and another at 2181 Kenny Court. The Clean City Initiative is the former 50 Worst Properties Program. Homes on the list scheduled for demolition have gone through a detailed process that includes, inspections, locating and notifying the property owner, awaiting a response and the issuance of a citation. If the property owner does not respond, the property is then moved through a court process. Additional demolitions can be expected in the near future, according to the team.
