The East Point City Council voted to approve the sale of excess power to the city of Robertsdale, Alabama during its meeting Monday.

The East Point Power Department requested the council approve the department’s selling power to the Alabama city by an agreement through the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia. The transaction would start in January 2018 and end Dec. 31, 2025.

The power department will sell its excess power at a rate of $41 per megawatt hour. The city of Robertsdale will receive 4.110 megawatts per hour and if more power is needed, the price of the additional power will be $1 per megawatt hour.
