East Cobb bank robbed at gunpoint

Two men wearing dark clothes and ski masks robbed an east Cobb County bank at gunpoint Friday afternoon, police said.

The incident happened shortly after 1 p.m. at the Chase branch, located in a Publix shopping center in the 1000 block of East Piedmont Road, Officer Joseph Hernandez with Cobb County police told the AJC.

After walking into the bank, one of the men stood near the door as a lookout, Hernandez said.

"The other male approached a teller station, produced a handgun and demanded money," Hernandez said.

The teller gave the man an undisclosed amount of cash, and the two men walked out of the bank, police said. No one was injured.

Witnesses described the two men as being black, between 5-foot-9 inches and 6 feet tall, and weighing between 160 and 180 pounds, Hernandez said.
