It was a tale of two races in Forsyth County in the early voting leading up to the Nov. 7 election.

Elections chief Barbara Luth said the city of Cumming municipal election drew 678 voters, with 32 absentee ballots mailed. That’s out of almost 3,000 on the rolls. Luth said with contested races and high interest, the absentee vote total this time was higher than the total turnout in some past city election cycles.

The Ga. House District 26 race was much a different story, with 859 voters turning out and 28 absentee ballots put in the mail. Luth pronounced that disappointing considering that the district has about 40,000 registered voters. She said the slack response came about even though her office heavily advertised both races.
