Early voting for the Atlanta City Council District 3 seat begins Monday, Feb. 25.

The special election is set for March 19, but voters may cast ballots 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through March 15 at the Fulton County Government Center, 130 Peachtree St. SW.

The seat was vacated after Councilman Ivory Lee Young Jr. died of cancer in November.

If needed a runoff will be held April 16. The winner will represent District 3 for the remainder of Young’s term through 2021.

Young, who was 56, was re-elected to his fourth term in November 2017. His Nov. 16 death follows a battle with cancer. Young had taken a leave of absence from the council a couple months ago to undergo stem cell treatment.
