Dunwoody has completed its road repaving for the year, making the drive smoother on more than 50 roads, the city announced Wednesday.

Crews paved more than 20 lane miles on 54 roads this year.

“We finished our paving ahead of schedule and under budget,” Dunwoody Mayor Denis Shortal said in a statement. “We even had excess funds available to pave additional streets. Taking care of the city’s infrastructure is a top priority.”

Since it became a city in 2008, Dunwoody implemented a 20-year paving plan, prioritizing the roads that needed it most. The city has repaved a total of 178 lane miles since it incorporated.

The most recent paving work, done by Blount Construction Company, cost more than $3.2 million. The Georgia Department of Transportation contributed $427,000, and SPLOST funds paid for the remainder of the work.

Residents can see which roads were paved this year on the city's website.
