Four of the eight inaugural members of the Dunwoody Police Department Citizens Patrol Program have begun the first solo patrols throughout the city of Dunwoody. The citizen patrols, each consisting of two volunteers in a marked city vehicle, will perform residence checks, business checks and park patrols, along with assisting officers with tasks such as traffic direction. These patrols will allow the department’s officers to focus on serious calls that require a certified law enforcement officer.

Citizens on Patrol members must be Dunwoody residents and graduates of the Dunwoody Police Department Citizens Police Academy. The program consists of a 26-hour classroom training program and a multi-tiered in-car training program.
