Dunaire Elementary School in Stone Mountain has been awarded a $5,000 grant to implement a "safe routes" program to encourage students to walk or ride bicycles to school. The program, sponsored in partnership with the DeKalb County Board of Health and the school district, is designed to make walking or biking to school a safe and regular option for children. An assessment of the safest and most feasible walking and biking routes to the school are currently underway. An update of the program will be presented soon to the Board of Education.
