Score: 43/U

A Duluth coffee and smoothie cafe that boasts fresh fruits and desserts failed its health inspection this week, with a health inspector citing no hand soap nor dispenser in the kitchen area.

Café Mangosix Coffee & Dessert, located in the Mall Corners Shopping Center on Pleasant Hill Road, failed its health inspection Wednesday with a score of 43/U, according to a Georgia Department of Public Health inspection report. The café, last inspected in April 2015, previously scored an 84.

According to the report, violations included an employee washing his hands with water only and other employees cutting mangos without washing them. The health inspector observed a whisk, sponge and sponge holder stored in the hand sink, which appeared to be where employees wash dishes. It is a health violation to wash dishes in a hand sink.

According to the health inspection report, continued unsatisfactory scores, repeat violations and uncorrected violations could result in permit suspension for the cafe.
