The Duluth City Council recently accepted $252,998 as the city’s share of the fiscal year 2019 Local Maintenance & Improvement Grant (LMIG) from the Georgia Department of Transportation.

LMIG grant funds are generated from the state motor fuel tax which is set each year by the Georgia General Assembly. The grant will be used for road improvement projects such as street resurfacing. Acceptance requires the city to provide 30 percent in matching funds of $75,899, which will come from Duluth’s portion of 2017 Special Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) transportation funds.
