The city of Duluth is prepared with “thousands of pounds of salt and sand” to combat the snow expected to blanket northern Georgia this weekend, city spokesperson Amanda Leiba said.

The city will utilize two spreaders and one plow to keep the roads clear, Leiba said. It will also partner with a contractor who is providing an additional two tractors for scraping.

Duluth Public Works employees will work 12 hour shifts starting Friday afternoon in order to keep the roads clear, but the city still encourages drivers to stay off the roads if possible.

A winter storm warning will go into effect for north Georgia Friday as a winter storm is expected to bring up to 4 inches of snow this weekend.
