The Duluth Police Department is currently accepting applications for new police officers. Certified officers will be given a $3,000 sign-on bonus.

Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, be a U.S. citizen, have a valid driver’s license, possess a high school diploma or state-issued G.E.D., with some college preferred. Georgia P.O.S.T Certified or Graduate of a Georgia Law Enforcement Academy candidates are preferred, but the city will consider sending otherwise highly qualified candidates to the police academy.

Duluth is also offering up to 5 percent incentive pay for certain law enforcement experience and up to 5 percent for language skills in a desirable language.
