Duluth Mayor Nancy Harris will run for reelection in November, hoping to earn a second term in office.

She announced her plans to run for office again at a fundraiser event on Thursday.

Harris won her first mayoral election in November 2007, beating retired businessman Jim Johnson. A lifelong Duluth resident, Harris retired from the Gwinnett County school system in December 2006 after a 31-year career as a schoolteacher.

She also serves as vice chairwoman of the Gwinnett Municipal Association.
