Duluth will declare Monday as George Rogers Day in honor of the Heisman Trophy winner.

Rogers played football at Duluth High School and then at the University of South Carolina, where the running back captured the Heisman in 1980.

He played for the New Orleans Saints and Washington Redskins before nagging injuries forced him to retire after the 1987 season.

The 51-year-old Rogers will be recognized at 7 p.m. Monday during the council meeting at Duluth City Hall.
