The Duluth City Council discussed the idea of more outdoor patio dining at their work session earlier this week.

The Parsons Alley redevelopment project was designed with zero lot line building locations, meaning each new structure comes up to or very near to the edge of the property line. The area outside of the building footprint is owned by the city. To activate the development, Parsons Alley LLC. has requested the ability to lease portions of the common area for outside patio dining.

City staff will evaluate proposed patio locations and if appropriate place lease agreements on future council meeting agendas for execution. Since outdoor dining has been a part of the downtown plan from the beginning, the city council is expected to approve the Parsons Alley request to lease portions of the common area.
