After receiving a request to consider locating a “wine bar” in Duluth’s Central Business District, the city council voted recently to amend the alcohol ordinance. Before this change, the ordinance prohibited package sales in a bar or tavern setting where alcoholic beverages are also sold for consumption on the premises.

The revised ordinance will allow a wine bar in the Central Business District to be established to sell and serve beer and wine by the drink for consumption on the premises, except on Sundays, and to sell wine by the package.
