The Duluth City Council agreed to a request by Claude Douglas Milam for annexation and rezoning of 37.69 acres from Gwinnett into the city. Milam also requested rezoning of an adjoining property where he lives that is already within the city.
The property is bordered by Roger’s Bridge Park to the west, Chattahoochee River to the north, U.S. Park Service to the east and Chattahoochee Cove and Castlemaine subdivisions to the south. Milam plans to develop the combined parcels as a gated, executive single-family housing community.
The requested annexation and rezoning comes after a lengthy process that included the council previously tabling both applications indefinitely to allow Milam to submit additional material regarding, access, elevations and sewer location.
The annexation and rezoning approval comes with numerous conditions and a time limit for development of the property. When built, the existing city-maintained Roger’s Bridge Road will serve the subdivision. Gwinnett will provide utilities. The proposed development will consist of 77-single family homes.
