An anonymous complaint of drug activity inside a Marietta apartment unit led to police discovering a stash of marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy pills and more than $3,000 in cash.
Four people were arrested July 18 after police executed a search warrant at the unit at The Arbors at East Cobb apartments at 1805 Roswell Road.
During the search cops found about four pounds of marijuana, 46 grams of cocaine, 15 ecstasy pills, two firearms and $3,653 in cash, a Marietta Police Department incident report states.
According to an arrest warrant issued July 19 by police, marijuana was found packaged inside plastic bags in the living room closet, bedroom closet and kitchen cabinets. Police also found the ecstasy pills and cocaine, packaged in small plastic bags, in the kitchen. Scales and sandwich boxes were also recovered by police, the warrant adds.
Marietta police spokesman Jared Rakestraw said agents believe the street value of the drugs to be about $15,000.
The four suspects — Harley Dee Shook, 24, Michael Lee Browning, James David Dean and John Frederick Mitchell, all 33 — are charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, trafficking cocaine and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Mitchell, Browning and Dean, all 33 years old, face an additional charge of possession of amphetamine. Dean is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Rakestraw said no additional arrests have been made, and detectives do not anticipate any more suspects to be apprehended in the case. Rakestraw also said investigators believe the case is an isolated incident.
