Investigators believe drugs and alcohol contributed to a wreck that killed a 35-year-old man, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

Ryan Carter Unsworth of Dawsonville died Friday afternoon at the scene of the head-on wreck, which happened on Bethelview Road just south of Kelly Mill Road, according to Deputy Epi Rodriguez.

Unsworth was driving a Nissan Altima southbound at 2:25 p.m. when he swerved into the northbound lanes and into the path of a tractor-trailer, Rodriguez said. The Nissan collided head on with the tractor-trailer and was pushed back approximately 55 feet, police said. The wreck closed Bethelview Road for about five hours.

Unsworth was killed, but the driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured, Rodriguez said.

No charges are expected, Rodriguez said.

Unsworth, a native of Rome, was a 1998 graduate of Model High School and later attended South Georgia Technical College, according to his online obituary. He worked as a firefighter for Dawson County, was a master welder and previously competed in bodybuilding. Unsworth's funeral will be held Tuesday in Rome.
