Police in Clayton County who responded to a call about a home invasion Tuesday evening found what they believe is a drug lab.

"It's a little ironic that the criminals were calling for help," Capt. Tina Daniel of the Clayton police told radio reporter Jennifer Griffies of AM 750 and now 95.5FM News/Talk WSB.

The incident occurred in the 6200 block of Evans Drive near I-675. Daniel said police responding to a 911 call captured two intruders. While searching the house, they found four people in the basement bound with duct tape.

Officers also found drugs and money, and they noticed the scent of what seemed to be methamphetamine, Daniel said. They evacuated the house and called the fire department.

"Until we clean it, we really won't know" whether it was a meth lab, Daniel said.

Police were not releasing the identities of the eight people whom Daniel said were in custody. She said one of them may be a resident of the home.
