Drizzle that began across parts of metro Atlanta early Tuesday is expected to intensify a little Tuesday night and Wednesday, but the rain should clear out by Thursday, leaving mostly sunny skies in the forecast for the weekend.
Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton is forecasting a 30 percent chance of rain for Tuesday, increasing to 60 percent Wednesday.
The National Weather Service said the rain should be light, with rainfall totals ranging from around an inch in the northwest corner of the state to only a quarter-inch across the eastern suburbs.
Afternoon highs will be in the low 70s Tuesday and Wednesday, climbing into the upper 70s Thursday through Saturday. Lows will be mostly in the low 60s, Minton predicted.
Normal high for the last week of September is 80, the normal low 62.
