A speeding driver ran a red light, lost control of his car and slammed into a Mableton home early Monday, breaking the foundation but injuring no one inside.

The incident happened about 1:10 a.m. in the 6100 block of Oakdale Road.

The car, a Mercedes, was traveling more than 80 miles per hour when it passed an officer on Lee Industrial Boulevard, police told the AJC.

It was going even faster when it ran a red light at Veterans Memorial Highway, said Sgt. Dana Pierce, a spokesman for Cobb County police. Soon the 1992 Mercedes jumped a curb and plowed into the house, breaking the foundation across the front and back, Pierce said.

Two people were inside and one got knocked out of bed, according to WSB-TV.

The impact sent the 39-year-old driver, Derik Antwann Bulluck of Atlanta, into the back seat, police told WSB. He was taken to Atlanta Medical Center and is expected to survive his injuries.

Charges are pending against Bulluck.

Pierce said police were not able to try to stop Bulluck before he crashed into the house.

Firefighters made arrangements with the Red Cross to relocate the residents.
