One person was killed after losing control of an SUV and striking several trees Tuesday morning in Bartow County, the Georgia State Patrol said.

Shortly after 9 a.m., a driver lost control of a 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe while driving eastbound on Old Alabama Road, near Cartersville, a GSP spokeswoman said. The SUV traveled off the left side of the road, down an embankment and hit several trees, according to investigators.

The driver, who was not identified pending notification of family members, was ejected and died at the scene.
