A 23-year-old woman was killed in a drive-by shooting Friday night, police say.

Julian Jones was walking on the 2900 block of Macon Drive in southeast Atlanta at about 9:50 p.m. when she was hit by gunfire emanating from a dark-colored SUV, Atlanta police said.

The mother of three was struck in the hip and later died during surgery.

Two men walking with Jones fled and were not injured.

Detectives believe the gunman may have been targeting one of the men walking with Jones.

"You took the mother from four children. She was a good woman, she didn't bother anybody," Jones’ mother, June Woods, told Channel 2 Action News.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
