Douglas County voters to decide on SPLOST continuation

Douglas County voters will decide in the Nov. 8 general election whether to continue the one-cent Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax.

If they do, the tax would continue for six years with an anticipated revenue gain of $160 million. Approved county projects would be transportation, fire/EMS/public radio system and parks/recreation.

For Austell, revenue would be used for improvements and renovations at Louise Suggs Park. Douglasville projects would be transportation, streets, public safety, parks, recreation and facility infrastructure. Villa Rica projects would be transportation, streets, water, sewerage, public safety, parks and recreation.
