Beginning Oct. 1, the rate for Douglas County residents will increase for landfill disposal, the first in 12 years.

The Douglas County Board of Commissioners made this decision for the Landfill Enterprise Fund to cover all costs of the operation and maintenance of the county’s Cedar Mountain Landfill and Camp Road Transfer Station. Both facilities are funded by the Landfill Enterprise Fund, which is solely supported by user fees. The new rates are $5 to $7 per 300 pounds for residential household trash drop-off with recycling and without recycling.

Rates of $60 per ton will apply to residential household trash over 300 pounds, commercial refuse, construction and demolition material and vegetative waste. Freon units will be $16 each with mattresses and box springs at $5 each for two or less and $2.50 each for three or more. While free for only recycle material, more costs will be $18 per load of less than 300 pounds for nonresident trash disposal with or without recycling, $5 each for tires of 17 inches or smaller and $15 each for tires of 18 inches or larger.
