The Georgia DOT has delayed repair work scheduled for Wednesday on the northbound entrance ramp to I-85 from Jimmy Carter Boulevard. Engineers determined that a more careful study of the drainage structure and utilities under the ramp must occur before work can begin to repair a sinkhole that developed earlier this week.

Currently, a steel plate covers the sinkhole and traffic can safely use the ramp.

The sinkhole measures approximately 3 feet long by 5 feet wide by 7 feet deep. Engineers can see a cavity below the asphalt opening, the DOT said.
