An event to educate people about domestic violence will be held Friday morning.

Partnership Against Domestic Violence will hold its sixth Women in Action Forum at The River Club in Suwanee from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

The event aims to increase awareness of intimate partner violence and will focus on teen dating violence.

“We host this event every year because it educates our community on a different aspect of domestic violence,” said Nancy Friauf, the president and CEO of Partnership Against Domestic Violence. “This year’s event will be unique because guests will have the opportunity to hear from industry experts and guest speakers about how dating violence affects a teenager’s life, warning signs and steps to prevent this horrific epidemic.”

Proceeds from the event will fund the general operating budget of the group’s Gwinnett County shelter, the largest domestic violence safe house in Georgia.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
