A dog perished in a lunchtime fire in northwest Atlanta, fire officials said.

The blaze started around 12:30 p.m. in the 400 block of James P. Brawley Drive. Two rooms sustained fire and water damage, an Atlanta Fire and Rescue spokesman said.

An overloaded circuit breaker is blamed, the spokesman said.

More details on the family living in the home or their dog were not available.
