After being found chained outside a Clayton County home, a dog starved to death on the way to a veterinarian.

Clayton police are now looking for who is responsible for the poor health of the dog that died and another surviving dog. The dogs were found outside a home in a wooden crate without food, Channel 2 Action News reported.

It is being investigated as an animal cruelty case.

Police were at the house on an eviction call when the dogs were discovered, Channel 2 reported. The tenant of the home, Matthew Darnell Jeffries, is a person of interest.
