The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is investigating a boating accident that involved a rescue effort by a passing vessel on Lake Lanier Sunday afternoon, according to Channel 2 Action News.

The driver of a fish and ski boat told authorities he was near Flat and Balus creeks when a passing boat "swamped" his boat with water, causing it to submerge, Sgt. Mike Burgamy, the DNR's Lake Lanier supervisor, told Channel 2.

A passing boat then picked up the passengers in the fish and ski boat, Burgamy told Channel 2.

Flat and Balus creeks are near Balus Creek Park, which is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Army Engineers and sits at the end of Mountain View Drive in West Hall.

Other details weren't immediately available.

Hall County Fire Services and Hall County Sheriff's Office also responded to the scene but quickly turned the matter over to the DNR, officials said.

"The incident was apparently cleared pretty quickly by DNR," Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks, the sheriff's spokesman told Channel 2. "Dispatch was able to relate that there were no injuries, but had few details beyond that."
