Construction on a mixed-use project at North Decatur Road and Scott Boulevard should begin in early 2015, said Dennis Webb, an attorney representing Fuqua Development. An exact date hasn’t been determined, however.

Stained glass windows were recently removed from the former Scott Boulevard Baptist Church, and nine houses on Barton Way boarded up, a precursor, Webb said, to demolishing those structures. Fuqua is planning 250 apartments for the site, along with 60 town homes facing Barton Way and 2,000 square feet of retail.

The development, approved in April by the DeKalb County commission, is currently on Decatur’s annexation map.
