The intersection of Houze Road (Ga. 140) at Hembree Road in Roswell will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday as part of a $4.4 million project to construct a roundabout there, city officials said.

A Georgia Department of Transportation will be shifting traffic onto a new roadway of the partly finished roundabout. Signage will be in place for a detour via Alpharetta Highway (Ga. 9), Crossville Road (Ga. 92) and Rucker Road. Roswell public safety crews also will be on hand to oversee traffic flow.

One of the first multi-lane roundabouts on a state route, the Houze/Hembree project is expected to be completed this fall. Plans also call for a multi-use trail on the south side of Hembree that will connect with an existing trail at Upper Hembree Road. Roswell contributed $353,500 toward preliminary engineering and design and right-of-way acquisition.
