A suspicious package picked up by a Clayton County police officer turned out to contain a radio and a calculator, authorities said.

An officer picked up the box Tuesday afternoon after a woman called police about an unexpected package that had been mailed to her, Clayton County police spokesman John Schneller said.

While returning to the station with the package, the officer heard a noise coming from the box. He pulled over in Jonesboro, parking on South Main Street and Batiste Way.

The county's bomb squad arrived and detonated the package, which was found to apparently contain a radio and a calculator, Schneller said.
