DeKalb weather: Heat, rain chances return

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Karen Minton has your forecast

A dry weekend continues into Monday morning in DeKalb County.

Afternoon, isolated showers are possible. Not everyone will get rain, but those who do will see “heavy downpours,” said Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton early Monday.

Humidity will increase with temperatures.

Highs for most of the week are expected near 90. The chance of rain increases later in the week, with a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms starting Wednesday in Decatur.

Scattered showers and storms are expected over the weekend.

WSB radio’s Mark Arum reported a traffic incident on I-20 in DeKalb County at about 6 a.m.

“Big jam on the east side! Crash blocking multiple lanes on I-20/wb past Panola Rd. Use Covington Highway as an alternate route,” Arum said on Twitter.
