DeKalb County Commissioner Larry Johnson, who has a background in public health, will host another free walking event Saturday morning.

Walking was named the official exercise in DeKalb in 2005, after a County Board of Health report noted a high incidence of health problems among residents. The DeKalb Walks Initiative is designed to focus on the health benefits of being active.

The next DeKalb Walks event begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Murphey-Candler Elementary School, 6775 S. Goddard Road, near Lithonia.

To pre-register for the free event or more information: 404-371-2425.
