DeKalb County residents will see a one-day delay in trash pick up next week.

The county sanitation division will be closed Nov. 12 for Veterans Day. Garbage, recyclable materials and yard trimmings collection will be pushed back a day.

The sanitation division will reopen Nov. 13.

Here is the revised sanitation scheduled for next week:

  • Monday, Nov. 12 – Veterans Day observed. No sanitation collection service.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 13  Residential customers whose regularly scheduled collection day is Monday, Nov. 12, will be serviced on Tuesday, Nov. 13.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 14 –Residential customers whose regularly scheduled collection day is Tuesday, Nov. 13, will be serviced on Wednesday, Nov. 14.
  • Thursday, Nov. 15 – Residential customers whose regularly scheduled collection day is Wednesday, Nov. 14, will be serviced on Thursday, Nov. 15.
  • Friday, Nov. 16 – Residential customers whose regularly scheduled collection day is Thursday, Nov. 15, will be serviced on Friday, Nov. 16.

It's a problem in many communities, including DeKalb County, where the fire chief says they're seeing an increase in unnecessary emergency calls.
