Two Clarkston teenagers have been charged with murder after a man’s body turned up at a notorious DeKalb County complex.

Yasin Hassan Abdallah, 20, was found shot dead the day after Thanksgiving at Brannon Hill Condominiums, a burned-out development outside Clarkston. Police allege Kibrom Gebre, 17, and Binyam Melese, 18, committed the murder on Thanksgiving.

Gebre, an alleged gang member who’ll be 18 on New Year’s Day, was arrested Wednesday and remains in jail without bond, records say. Melese, who is also accused of lying to police, was picked up the same day and has no bond.

Police say they believe the shooting happened when an argument escalated. But the source of the disagreement hasn’t been released.

Brannon Hill condos, near Memorial Drive, have been falling apart and plagued by crime and squatters for years. In November, a judge cleared the way for DeKalb County to tear part of it down if the owners don't.

Abdallah’s body was found by a neighbor. The neighbor was actually looking for another man who lived in the condo because he hadn’t shown up for work, according to a police report.

But the neighbor, who had heard loud music coming from the unit on Thanksgiving, walked in and found the 20 year old dead.

It’s not clear if the suspects or victim lived at the complex or elsewhere in the Clarkston area.
