DeKalb County tore down a single-family home Wednesday morning, part of the county’s mission to address blight and abandoned properties.
The one-story home in the 5400 block of Forest East Lane in the Stone Mountain area was the 67th property demolished by DeKalb County in 2019.
Photographs released by the county ahead of the demolition showed graffiti on the inside walls and insulation falling down from open ceiling panels.
Since 2017, the county said, it has demolished or abated more than 430 properties. The county previously approved $3.8 million in funds to go toward blight-fighting initiatives.
Over the years, the county has especially targeted the Brannon Hill Condominiums just outside of Clarkston, and tore down many of the "dilapidated and neglected" units.
