The candidates competing in a runoff election for DeKalb County sheriff, Vernon Jones and Jeff Mann, are expected to meet during a forum this month.

The June 17 forum also will include runoff candidates for state schools superintendent and DeKalb County school board.

The sheriff’s race matches Jones, the former CEO of DeKalb County, against Mann, who took over as sheriff in March after serving as chief deputy since 2004. Mann received 40 percent of the vote in the May 20 primary election, and Jones received 22 percent of the vote.

The candidate forum, hosted by Rep. Rahn Mayo, D-Decatur, will be held at the Community Achievement Center in Decatur from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The runoff election is July 22.
