DeKalb County will soon accept sealed bids on a 1.9-acre lot on Covington Highway recently declared as surplus.

The move is in line with the county’s Revenue Enhancement Commission, which identified surplus land as a possible new revenue source for the cash-strapped county.

County property records show a commercial building and a home are on the site, which is appraised at $609,000.

DeKalb Police’s narcotics unit had been using the location for training. Proceeds from the sale will go into the county’s seized funds account.
