The DeKalb Board of Education turned down three contracts Monday night to lease school property for cell phone towers at Brockett Elementary, Meadowview Elementary and Medlock Elementary schools. Meadowview drew the most comments early in the meeting, with parents concerned about potential health issues and that the towers would be eyesores. The leases could be worth at least $21,000 a year. Sites at nine other schools in DeKalb were tentatively approved for cell tower leases, but final approval must come from the County.
