DeKalb County announced this week that it has improved its water billing process. It has also investigated the higher-than-average water bills experienced by some county customers.

Since the addition of 35 additional staff to the customer service center at the end of October, a news release stated the following improvements have been realized:

• The average customer call wait time improved from 20 minutes to 56 seconds.

• Abandoned customer calls reduced from 20 percent to 1 percent.

The watershed department has also added 60 satellite payment locations at Kroger, Citgo and Walmart stores around the county to provide easy bill payment options for customers.
