Dunwoody police issued a warning this week after a raccoon caught in the city tested positive for rabies.

The animal was found Saturday on Olde Village Court.

"If you or anyone you know is bitten or scratched by a wild animal, seek medical attention immediately," the alert said on Facebook. "If your pets are acting unusually nervous or aggressive or they have drooling or foaming of the mouth, please contact DeKalb Animal Control."

Pet owners should make sure their animals are vaccinated against rabies yearly.

The number to DeKalb Animal Control is 404-294-2996 Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or 404-294-2519 at other times.
