Off-duty DeKalb County Police officers have begun patrolling Wesley Chapel Road and Panola Road, which is part of the East Metro DeKalb Community Improvement District. The public safety patrols are tailored to watch for vandalism and other common crimes. Police work staggered shifts over multiple days, primarily during overnight hours.

DeKalb County Sergeant Susan Sowell, who lead the patrols, said Community Improvement District property owners can contact DeKalb’s East Precinct to report any concerns.

Officers will generate patrol reports detailing their experiences for the benefit of CID leaders and provide safety updates at the CID’s board of directors meetings.

The East Metro DeKalb CID formed in 2014 through a unanimous vote of the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners. Over 205 commercial property owners are a part of the East Metro DeKalb CID.
