Gwinnett County’s former IT director has been named the new chief information office officer in DeKalb.

John Matelski has more than 25 years of experience in the information technology field, including work in both the private and public sector.

Matelski takes over from Curtis Rawlings, the assistant information officer who has served as interim director of DeKalb’s department for more than a year.

Matelski starts in the new role on Sept. 24 at an annual salary of $145,896.
