The motorcyclist who struck a pedestrian in DeKalb County Saturday evening is still in critical condition but expected to live, according to police.

While traveling in the 2400 block of Wesley Chapel Road, just north of I-20, the driver struck Carlton James, 46, who was in the middle of the roadway, said Officer Jason Gagnon.

Carlton, who died, was not walking in the crosswalk. The motorcyclist, whose name is yet to be released, is being treated at an Atlanta area hospital.

Witnesses told police the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed.

No charges are expected as of yet, said Gagnon.
