DeKalb jobseekers, be advised: The county workforce development department may be of assistance.

The agency plans to post its mobile career center in Atlanta, Stone Mountain and Decatur in the next few days. The mobile unit supports the county’s “strategic priority” to facilitate jobs and economic development by providing services and helping put DeKalb residents back to work, according to a news release.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Thursday: Gresham Library, located at 2418 Gresham Road SE, Atlanta
  • Monday: Flat Shoals Library, 4022 Flat Shoals Parkway, Decatur
  • Tuesday: DeKalb Access and Resource Center, 949 North Hairston Road, Stone Mountain

The unit is set to be posted from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at each location.

The mobile unit provides job search assistance, workshops, training, resume writing pointers and interview tips. Businesses also are able to use the center for recruiting, pre-employment screenings, interviews and training, according to the news release.

“The mobile career center has helped nearly 5,000 DeKalb residents in the job search process and assisted area companies in finding quality employees,” Interim CEO Lee May said.

The unit also is offering assistance to residents interested in applying for the DeKalb summer internship program. The program provides short-term internship opportunities for low-income young adults, ages 16 to 24, who are not enrolled in school and seeking employment.
